About the studio
A small studio, making its own things.
Meina Tech builds iOS and Android apps. Not for clients — for ourselves, and then for anyone else who wants the same calm software we do.
Why we exist
We got tired of our phones.
Somewhere along the way, the apps we relied on every day stopped being tools and started being businesses that happened to run on our phones. Badges we never asked for. Subscriptions for things that used to be free. Settings pages designed to be given up on.
So we started making our own replacements — small, quiet apps that do one thing, keep their hands off your data, and don't try to be a platform. They turned out to be nicer to use than the things they replaced, so we decided to publish them.
No clients. No investors asking about engagement metrics. Just a short list of apps we care about, maintained for as long as people use them.
What we believe
Four things we keep coming back to.
Attention isn't ours
An app should give you back more time than it takes. If ours ever starts competing for your evening, we've built the wrong thing.
Small and finished
We'd rather make an app that's genuinely done than one that grows a new tab every quarter to justify a roadmap.
Details are the work
Anyone can build the happy path. The craft is in the empty state, the lost connection, the double tap, the very long name.
Your data is yours
It stays on your device unless a feature truly can't work that way — and then we tell you plainly, before you turn it on.
The name
Why "Meina"?
We wanted something that sounded like the sea — the thing we look at when a problem is stuck. Sea glass starts life as something sharp and discarded, and the water spends years turning it into something smooth enough to keep. That's roughly how we feel about software.
Come and say hello.
Feedback, an idea for an app you wish existed, or just curiosity — we read everything.
